In a children’s room, there are more possibilities to attach a hanging chair than there are for the adults. Since the smaller hanging chairs for children require a lower minimum height for fixing, besides hanging chair frames and the classic suspensions, there are two more very good possibilities in the children’s room: The attachment under the loft bed, or in the door.
Door Frame Hanging Chair
There are two options for mounting in the door frame: First possibility – you can screw a hook into the door frame at the top in the classic way. But this will damage the frame and the whole thing will not look very nice. Also the door frame is often not stable enough to hold the hanging chair and playing child.
It also makes it impossible to access the children’s room and close the door.
The better option is to fix an easily detachable pull-up bar in the door frame at the very top, to which you can then attach the hanging chair without any problems – and without drilling or screws.

Hanging chair under the loft bed
In many children’s rooms nowadays, there is a loft bed. Underneath it is very often a desk, but you can also attach a hanging chair underneath.
Most of the time you can easily attach the hanging chair to a stable beam of the loft bed with a rope or a cheap attachment like the Tree Rope from La Siesta*.
This is a very simple and quick solution, and much easier than screwing it to the ceiling. All you have to do is to respect the minimum height for the fixing of each hanging chair. For many models for children this is about 160 cm, which should fit under most loft beds.

Different ways to hang a Hanging chair in kids room

In addition to the two possibilities we have mentioned above, there are basically two other ways to hang up a hanging chair. Either via a hanging chair frame or via a mounting in the ceiling or in the wall. We have described the attachment of hanging chairs for adults. Installing a kids swing is not much different.
With a hammock chair frame you save an extra mounting, but the rocking feeling is largely lost. Since this is exactly what distinguishes the hanging chair from so many other pieces of furniture, you should pay special attention to this free rocking movement. Only if there is no other possibility of attachment, you should install a hammock chair stand in the children’s room.
A hanging chair without a frame must therefore be fixed to the wall or ceiling. The normal case will surely be the ceiling attachment. It is important to check the load capacity and the material of the ceiling beforehand. In case of doubt, you should consult an expert who will tell you whether it is s suspension from the ceiling a possible option.
There are also special wall mountings models. These also limit the rocking feeling because the wall is very close, but they are a good alternative if ceiling mounting is not possible.
